I installed 7.10 (Gutsy Gibbon) with a USB keyboard and it installed just fine. Perhaps you have a proprietary USB controller.

Anybody know if they fixed the installer not recognizing USB keyboards? When I installed 7.04 and 7.10 from a CD, the initial menu upon the installer starting did not detect my USB keyboard.. To install I had to kludge a PS2 keyboard onto the system.. Once the system was installed, I removed the PS2 keyboard and the system was fully usable with the USB keyboard.. Also, on the 7.10 install, the initial start of the system after installation, kicked the monitor (Sony Multiscan G200) into a out-of-range configuration, such that I had to do things that non-technical people would have zero clue about, to get 7.10 to run right after install… Guess I’ll find out.. Just downloaded 8.04 Beta….
